I started to smell gas and saw my tank was rusted and looked like someone tried to patch it with only god knows what. Is there any ware I can get a new tank. Or if I get a fuel cell how donj hook the gauge up so I m ow how much gas is in it?

no one makes an aftermarket tank for the second gens. You will have to find a used one or get a fuel cell. If you get a fuel cell a chevy sender will work, but it will make your gauge rear backwards.

Take the sender and fuel pump out of the old and adapt it to the new?

Yes empty is full and full is empty. Simply use a black and white paint pen and some tape to fix it, simple really and no one would ever notice,

Unless yours is completely rusted out, most decent radiator shops around here repair gas tanks, usually not very expensively.
