I have been working on finding some bigger rotors that bolted to our hub, I found some about 3/4 of an inch bigger, I will try some more rotors on monday, This what i have so far

Very nice. What is the year/make/model of these rotors as well? Are there any requirements as to the caliper brackets to fit these?

You have me wondering about the brakes on 4 wheel drive trucks, when you have an itch, you itch it.
So with that said, more input is needed. I hope Kane (MainstreaM) see's this so he'll give his much needed 2 cents worth.

The 4X4 rotors have a different offset compared to the 4X2,when you bolt the rotors to the hub there is not enough room for the caliper bracket to fit between the rotor and spindle.

So the 4x4 hub assembly will fit the 4x2 spindle? Do the 4x4 rotors fit the 4x2 hub? What year/model 4x4 rotors did u try?

The 4x4 has to be drilled to fit the 4X2 hub, but there still the wrong offset, once you tighten the nut on the spindle the rotors wont move it's hitting the back of the spindle

A member on here has 2 piston front calipers. Anyone has the part numbers for the rotor/caliper/caliper bracket?
Looking to do the upgrade if it bolts to my 89 4x2 mightymax. Why make a new thread when a thread exists for bigger rotors.

the montero caliper will work with stock rotor and you will notice a big difference in how well the truck stop,the problem is the stock rotor is too small for the montero brake pads, it sticks out about .25 of an inch.I am still trying out different rotors from every 6 lug application, I havent given up, just been busy my racing season started in january, as im typing this im coming back from Gainesville Florida

I've got a hold of the Montero aka Pajero over here calipers and am looking for some rotors to match. Bolted the calipers up the other day, but wasn't happy with the rotor being too small and pads sticking out. Bolts straight up just needs the backing plate shield slightly modified to clear the carrier. Bolt pattern and thread is the same though.

The disc on the Montero that the caliper came from is 276mm outer diameter, so I am looking for a disc at least 270mm in diameter, not much more than 276mm, but with similar rotor thickness offset etc.
I've spent a good hour crunching numbers in an Aussie disc brake supplier book with all dimensions supplied. Closest I've found so far is: (all in millimetres)

I'd love to get a set of the Econovan ones to try, gonna have a look around for used before I buy a brand new set of slotted ones. Only problem is I could not find ANY 6 stud rotors, all the ones I found that were close would need re-drilling to suit. My pick is the Ford Econovan which is 4 stud, Merc & Daihatsu are 5 stud. Econo discs with only 4 holes would give more room to fit 6 re-drilled in the correct position for our trucks, the centre hole diameter is only 1mm larger (hopefully shouldn't matter), thickness is 2mm less which shouldn't matter, offset is .5mm difference which shouldn't matter, and total diameter is only 1mm less than the correct size for the caliper.
I will let everyone know for sure if I find anything.

Econovan 275mm OD, 33mm height, 20mm thickness, 85mm centre hole diameter (all pretty close)
Feroza 277mm OD, 33mm height, 18mm thickness, 96mm centre hole diameter (too big?)
Merc 276mm OD, 35.5mm height, 22mm thickness, 67mm centre hole (would need boring out to 84mm)

Alright so just noticed a flaw in my hard work. Didn't take into account the mounting point of the caliper :bang: I totally overlooked the fact that only 5mm of pad is left showing therefore I only need a 10mm bigger diameter rotor, I was assuming it was bolted on in the exact same spot relative to the centre of the axle as when it was on the Montero, when the fact is it must be slightly closer to the axle if only 5mm of the pad is showing.

Ok, so cannot find anything as close as that Econovan rotor in 270ish size. I've done some rough estimation and found that with the 258mm rotor roughly 6mm of pad is un-used on the Montero caliper, so therefore I need a 12ish mm larger diameter disc for the outside of the pads to be exactly in line with the outside of the rotor. There's 270 there, but if I go with the 276 that I found, it's only 6ish mm bigger that needed, therefore only 3mm on the outside of the rotor surface will be un-used, and I'm certain I have enough room for the caliper to clear the outside of the disc being 3mm too big in diamter. I'd rather have too much disc than what I would have at the moment not using the whole pad. Disc might wear a little like ][ with the un-used section on the outside, but hey rotors are cheap and they don't wear in a hurry :shrug: Gonna give it a go.

Run it... It will give you some strange pad wear but it should stop just fine.

Ive been looking for bigger rotors from different vehicles as well. Hoping to find something close enough to have few modifications. looks like 2011 chevy colorado has the rotors bolted to the hub in the same way but i havent found out if they will fit. I did grab a rotor and hub from a honda passport/ isuzu rodeo. didnt look like they would mount up easily.

I think it was a 97 but theyre pretty similar for several years. It was a 2wd model. The rotor is just a bit larger in diameter than the montero but way larger then the max. The bearings are much larger so I was hoping to get different bearings or spacers to make it fit the mitsu spindle. Unfortunately the tabs on the front of the hub ( the ones that make us have to bore out chevy wheels to fit ) are even larger on the rodeo. I think the mitsu was around 93 mm and the rodeo was 99mm.

4g63mightymax put viper brakes on his truck. Used the brake calipers and master cylinder but he didnt use the rotors. Went even bigger with cadillac cts rotors then needed 18 inch wheels for clearance. Its a lot of reading.

I tried the isuzu rotors today the offset is real close to stock rotor,the bolt pattern on the rotor are different where the hub bolts up

The stock 2wd rotor on the left,97 Isuzu rodeo rotor in the Middle, and montero rotor on the right, the isuzu rotor is the same diameter as the montero but the isuzu rotor is a lot thicker,but the montero has bigger vanes for cooling,I have a couple more rotors to try this week to see what fits.

Im interested in rear disc brakes..... the rear drums arent that small.....just thought it would be cool. Came across a 1990 isuzu rodeo 4x4 v6 in the junkyard today . I thought I would share that the e-brake is built into the caliper which would be good for our trucks. I took the rotor off to test fit on a mighty max. The bolt pattern is the same and the rotor will slide right on backwards. The center hole of the rotor is the same size as the center hole of the drum But if you flip it around like its supposed to be installed it wouldnt fit the axle because the inside diameter of the rotor would not slide over the axle flange of the mighty max.

I ran out of brake pad life waiting for bigger rotors. Lol. Bought new oem sized pads for now. Anyone look into Toyota rotors? I remember the front 5 bolt swap was Toyota hubs. Maybe 5 bolt got more options?

I am going to be making a big brake kit for my truck(toyo 5 lug swapped) in about a month or so that shouldnt cost much. I already have it planned out.

1997 Isuzu Rodeo. Dana 44 They even had the "Iron Man" series, but good luck finding one. It was a Dana 60. You will never find one. I tried and failed.
Disk with durum parking brakes. The Emergency brake cables are nearly impossible to find after market. Or you can get them through the dealer for $150 each. Just get a complete rear end and swap it over into your truck. There nearly the same width. 2 inch wider. You will never see it. Hole rear end is about 350.00. Then you can put in lockers, LSD, ARB, parts are made for this thing and easy to find. You can even get new ring and pinions of what ever size you want, along with new larger axles. Just cut off and replace the spring perches to fit your spring width. You can get new anti wrap perches below. Just measure your spring width and order for a 3" housing. Then all that you need to do is adapt the drive shaft to fit. They may need to cut off a little, but it's worth it. The parking brake cables are the hard part. Nothing fits. You will need to come up with a way to make it work on your truck. I'm sure you can do it. I did, it's listed in my build thread on how I did it.

I know this is an old thread but I would like to know if people have had any success with finding some rotors to fit the Montero calipers?
