Hello everyone, I just put a tach in my 82 power ram 50 and it reads around 900rpm once warmed up, now is it just me or is this idle a little high and what should the redline be in my truck as well maybe i am just over thinking things but would please anyone give me some hints or lead me in the correct direction of what my RPMs should read thank you

idle rpms should be 750 for the 2.6 - adjust it down after checking the timing - these run best at 10 degrees btdc, stock is 7 btdc

Redline is 6000, but most 2.6s will never see it in these trucks on a regular basis - no need to.

If you have AC you might want to up the idle a bit because during the summer when you turn on the AC it will drop the idle down and with headlights on it drops a little more. 900 doesn't seem to bad. But, I like mine a little more on the higher end for some reason.

yeah my truck does not seem like it idles high and i set the redline on my tach at like 3.5 or 4 cause it seems like 3.5 is really pushing my motor by the way it sounds anyway
