Ticking of the engine

I have a 88 ram 50 custom with a 2.6L and when i get on the gas i can hear a ticking it sounds like its coming more from the front of the the engine what could it be.

Check your timing and give it some new plugs. That sounds like it's pinging. Also use 92 octane and see if that helps.
It could also have a vacuum leek causing it to run lean.

I doesnt make the noise untell i push the pedal down then it makes the noise and its loud

Have you checked the items in the above reply?
If so it can be an exhaust leek. OR
The valves need adjusting or replacing the hydraulic lash adjuster. OR the oil is low and you are going to blow it up.
Please answer the first question. With out information no one can help you.
