Has anyone done a swap to the 4g64 sohc 16v engine yet? I was trying to find info on this and cant seem to find anything. wanting to know is it a direct replacement? can i use the same accessories and brackets? flywheel, ecm, radiator.......etc. I like the idea of a 16v engine, but dont what to do a lot of mods. the availability seem more plentiful than stock 8v engines, and the price is very reasonable. any thoughts?

I dont think anybody has done the swap yet. I have also thought about using this engine, most of the rwd 2.4 sohc 16v engines have 7 bolt cranks and have a weird front distributor setup like the montero sport with the same 2.4 sohc 16 engine, Mitsubishi still uses this engine today in the 2010-11 L200 pickups(mightymax) they even sell them in mexico. http://www.mitsubishimotors.com.mx/modelos/2011/l200/index.jsp

16V engines produce lots of power. I was thinking about running a 16 valve DOHC then I found the V6 and compared the weight, HP, cost, parts availability, engine builders, center of gravity, cam selection, piston selection, heads, cranks, rods, cooling capacity, water pump pressures, accessory drives, transmissions, final drive ratio. The usual. Then came up with a scenario of age to life left. So it did not work out for me. But don't let this stop you. We could use more good build threads. I just let it swing a touch toward the extreme. I'm into my build for around $30,000.00 300 1 year of labor and 300 feet of tubing.

i found one here (link below) and the price is reasonable. but not knowing what all is involved, i am a little reluctant to do the mod. the truck is my daily driver and its pushing 265k and starting to use a little oil.

the price is right. But what ever you do it's not going to be a direct swap.

Just an Idea, but would it be possible that the head could bolt on? Kind of like the G63b and the 4G63. Same block, different head and slight other variances.
