I'm back here again haha.. after what seems like eternity.. anyway I bought a 1988 Ram 50 4x4 that the guy said had a "rod knock".. last I remembered a rod knock is a low knock.. not a high pitched clang.. so I bought it for $200 and brought home.. pulled the valve cover and found what I figured it was.. just a bad chain tensioner.. looked all in the engine and I see no oil deposits its all nice and shiny and it has manual lifters.. so obviously the previous owner from the guy I bought it from must've done some engine work to it and the block is painted which leads me to think the engine was pulled and painted.. all the poor thing needs is a bed.. the guy sold the flatbed that was on it and I think I'm gonna rhinoline it black.. ill keep everyone up to date!

So I pulled it apart, fixed the tentioner, after forever for getting it retimed i fired it up.. ehh, come to find out, it sure is a rod knock. :(
So I was wondering if maybe, i can just replace the bearings and see if that'll get me by for a year or two? I will run a mic around the crank to see if its egg shaped or not, But what are your opinions, Where could I find a crank? I checked ebay and didnt find one. Its a 2.6 G54B

If you have a machine shop close by, this would probably be the cheapest if you don't want to pay a huge price for a crank. I think if your digging that far into the motor why not make sure it is not going to tear up new bearings and get it turned for $50-$60 bucks.
Another place for a crank maybe is type it in on google and maybe get lucky, but a warning...cranks are friggin heavy and the postage will be a handful to have it shipped. As long as yours is not damaged too bad, a good shop can smooth it out for you.

Thank you for the info, I am probably getting a used crankshaft for it and ill put new bearings in it
