My 86 G63B has 162,000 mi. on it and the clutch is beginning to slip under load...does anyone have a recommendation for a clutch?...I went to Exedy website and all they offer for my truck at this time is OEM....I'd prefer a performance upgrade as I sometimes carry about 500 lbs of equipment in the bed of the truck. I've been to several websites and don't really know alot about the other clutches, obviously I'd like a great price but more importantly is....reliability. Thanks in advance.

Good quality clutch kits aren't cheap. You skimp on the cash and get what you pay for. But you should keep an eye out for bargain kits that your local auto store are trying to offload - I picked up an Exedy sports tuff kit for a Hyundai @ $100 (the pressure plate mates up to the G63B flywheel but I had to source a compatible clutch plate and thrust bearing) http://i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/geezer1011/L200%20Express/L200Express122_zps6165be36.jpg

My clutch got burnt because I was towing a Porsche 944 and trailer got stuck while I kept trying to reverse, two years ago.....

I got the cheapest one off ebay... Now I have had 35k on it, it still runs good....

I have the Exedy oem in my '90 which I use in a landscape business, often with a ton of stone in the bed with no problem. The only time I could smell a little clutch was when truck and trailer were overloaded with a cord of green fir rounds.

:cussingblack:do you have any freaking idea how much we pay for kits like this in Australia? They hit us up for over $300 for something like this...

Order through eBay.com? For us in the U.S., a lot of hard to find Mitsu stuff is available only on eBay.co.au but most of the vendors ship worldwide.

Even ordering through ebay the freight is an extra $160. I know that ebay is looking into ways to stamp out scalping from vendors but I don't see it happening in a hurry.

Geezer101...when this whole clutch thing started I found a company who specializes in Starion/Conquest parts in North Hollywood, Ca....they have a link to a company who they appear to endorse called Clutch Masters...they are about an hour from my house...I gave them a call, they quoted me $425.00!!!!....and I see stuf on ebay for about $70.00.

Yeah, it pays to do your research when buying anything. Why don't they just mug you when you go into the sales counter... $425? I bet they got customers lining up :slap:
