I have a 1987 2.0L with a stock Mikuni carb the screws have been tampered with that controls the free lever and everything. I desperately need to know how to get all the screws and throttle opening settings back into factory specs! I am buying a weber carb with mounting kit soon enough but for the time being I need this carb to get me up a hill faster than it is now and the truck is running a bit rough at idle but not on a rev it runs fine. The distributor is set with the timing light also.

Tuning a Japanese Carburetor is rumored to be harder than Chinese Arithmetic!

My 1989 has a stock Mikuni, definitely dont wanna change it! Haha there's something about originality that keeps my hanging on even though I've had a rough time with mine as well

Another case of random fiddling with adjusting screws. O.k. I've got a link to this and although it's to the older all alloy Mikuni, the adjustments are the same - http://www.mightyram50.net/vbulletin/showthread.php/5005-Carburetor-issues-xp?p=43407&viewfull=1#post43407
Hopefully this will go some way to debugging your carb woes...
