Hey there guys! I'm trying to figure out where to pull a VSS signal from. Is there a wire I can tap into from the back of the instrument cluster?

I used a speed sensor that screws onto the speedo cable at the tranny that sends a signal like a vss. Its aftermarket for a Subaru I believe. I believe the link can be found somewhere on the hotrodcoffeeshop.com forums

starquests also have a speed sensor that fits on the tranny that gives a signal for the cruise control. Good luck finding one of those...

Pull one from a Montero Sport. It screws on and uses a Mitsu VSS plug. Done and done.

What year Montero sport? Does anyone by chance have the ECU pinout for the 88' Ram 50 with a G54b?

Woohoo! Figured it out. I pulled the instrument cluster from the dash, flipped it around and followed the trace back to the connector.
I cut the red/yellow stripe wire and ran it to pin 18 of my ECU, speed is now logging and launch control is working like a champ!

Good to know, I might need this in the near future.

Mines an 88 4wd, I imagine the wiring is very similar. Now if I can just get a better clutch in it! So funny seeing people's reaction to a beater truck hitting 2 step ripping out of the hole !

That it is, especially a 4wd too I would bet. The look on peoples faces is priceless.
