so i'm at the point of ordering a full new front suspension and after doing some searching now i'm just confused. i have two 2nd gen MM's a 1989 base model, and a 1994 sport. so for shits and giggle i looked up the front suspension for both of them and low and behold they list different parts. so i'm wondering if anyone knows what changed? i'm sure i could jack the sport up and crawl under and look but it's freezing cold out side and i figure someone's gotta know. what i have found is that 89-90 is the cut off point, something changed after that

So it's not like a upgraded system? Just a different variation? Was wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade the 89 to the 94 parts

Hey,
Sorry about that unfinished post that I put up yesterday.
What I was trying to add to this post was: I am in the process of changing out my inner and outer tie rod ends on my 87 Ram 50 2wd. It seems that all parts are available for the 87 model, Passenger side inner & outer tie rod end, drivers side inner tie rod end. I haven't been able to find the drivers side outer tie rod end. All parts stores carry the right side outer tie rod end and list it as fitting both the left and the right side, which is wrong. The drivers side is left hand thread and the passengers side outer tie rod end is right hand thread. I picked up some outer ball joints for a 1990 Ram 50 and as another poster pointed out, the tie rod ends are bigger. Despite a bunch of searching I have come up with no solution...has anyone else run in to this issue and if so where can a guy find a left hand thread outer tie rod end for the left (drivers) side?
Any help[ is appreciated.

Ok, Thanks for the information.
Do either of you remember if the tie rod ends were interchangeable between left and right side? Rock Auto lists the same part # that I got from Auto Zone (which I didn't have any luck with) but it is cheap enough that I am going to order 1 outer tie rod end and see how it goes.
Again, thanks for the info!

Yup as Fordubishi said, inners are different, outers are the same. Just replaced all my steering and have done it multiple times before also.

Having the same issue. The right outer tie rod end (passanger side) 1987 *built 07/1986* is a left hand thread. Autozone Duralast es2194R is a right hand thread. Autozone says one part works on both sides...but nope. Mitsubishi warehouse has the same part number MA159984R and MA159984L for the front end.

Did a cross check at rockauto using the mitsubishi part number ma159984 and found one left hand thread: Delphi Part TA1116. Cross refrences to a Mitsubishi Staron.

NAPA
Part Number: MRC ES2194R
Specify Right Hand or Left Hand Thread for about $6.75 a piece. Going to NAPA. That Delphi Part at RockAuto is gonna be shipped from the Uk at 34.00 postage. No thanks.
I be going to NAPA.
