I figured I'm getting a ways on my build so I will start a build thread to show progress
The day I brought we home

Definitely didn't know what I got myself into

Just a few of what it was like when bought, I wish now I would have taken more pictures of the progress, I name it rats best because every wire that went to the gauge cluster had been chewed through, the headlight switch wires all chewed through, later found that the 2 front market lamps had both wires on both sides chewed through, the oil sender and water sender also chewed through, so plenty of my favorite thing to do (sarcasm) I hope I have got all wires straightened out
This is how it sits right now, just getting everything together, have a few more pieces to get along the way but it's making its wayhttp://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u146/i_steel_free_things/d50/20150307_093500_zpsiegdwwry.jpg (http://s167.photobucket.com/user/i_steel_free_things/media/d50/20150307_093500_zpsiegdwwry.jpg.html)http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u146/i_steel_free_things/d50/20150307_194135_zpsd1w8xkkx.jpg (http://s167.photobucket.com/user/i_steel_free_things/media/d50/20150307_194135_zpsd1w8xkkx.jpg.html)http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u146/i_steel_free_things/d50/20150307_093602_zpsakbjynyv.jpg (http://s167.photobucket.com/user/i_steel_free_things/media/d50/20150307_093602_zpsakbjynyv.jpg.html)http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u146/i_steel_free_things/d50/20150307_191455_zpsuldr3vro.jpg (http://s167.photobucket.com/user/i_steel_free_things/media/d50/20150307_191455_zpsuldr3vro.jpg.html)

Pulled it out of the garage last night and let it run a little while flushing a couple times, I did some major rigging just to have it start and run while the tank is out

The clutch is definitely bad, pulled the pedal all the way out and barely moved, and the center bearing on the driveshaft is way done, slow and steady I go

I ment to post how the throttle had been ran, am I the only one to do it like so or?

It works really well and fit perfect around the resivour to the carb to have it this way with going electric pump it works great, no binding or anything and goes WOT with pedal to spare

Well the clutch isn't covered in oil so that is a good thing. All the springs are there, but no flywheel?
carpoollane
04-06-2015, 03:38 AM
All of the friction material is missing from that one side, and I didn't have anyone to hold the motor solid to unbolt the flywheel

Sorry I haven't updated in a little while, haven't done much to it, but I did finally get me a clutch, yay I didn't take the flywheel for a resurface, I just took a flap wheel to clean it up and wrapped sandpaper around a glass bottle

I'm sorry, I haven't done anything to it recently, been raining and no funds to do much, need to clean up the inside and the outside some, thinking of getting a rug from Wal-Mart and making me some carpet

I'm leery that this is what I will find once I get the carpet out of my 82. What are you going to do for seats?
carpoollane
05-28-2015, 05:37 AM
I will recover the bench, or might just get the buckets out of the cab in the salvage while getting the cab, haven't fully decided, but I think I would personally like the bench

grab the seat sliders - they are hard to find for buckets

I will, I had planned on getting the whole seat set, 25 apiece, can't beat that

Really considering just gutting the interior and power washing everything, anyone have tips or into in how to do certain things? Thanks

Break up 5-10 lbs of dry ice into chunks with a hammer and spread them across the floor pan. Do this outside in a well ventilated area. In a few minutes the dry ice will freeze the sound deadening tar so you can shatter it with a hammer and pull it up. This will instantly lift 50% of ground in grime and dirt away and make deep cleaning the cab much much easier and faster. Replace the sound deadening with Dynamat or, if you're a true minitrucker on a budget, Peel n' Seal with a headliner adhesive.

That makes sense, I probably should take it up but haven't planned on it, I was more concerned about the rat crap in the dash and cleaning what's on the floor, my problem is, I'm kind of a lot impatient and I can't help it lol but I will see about the sound deadening

Your Ram looks a hell of a lot like my L200 express except I've got the dual headlight 6 X 4 set up. It's even as badly beaten up as mine was when I got it. My floor doesn't look that bad though - got a few holes in the forward end rocker panels either side of the cab. I've got the factory buckets but the padding and stitching is toast (the upholstery 'was' mint until a kid who owned it prior to it's demise put cigarette burns on it all over the place - they're not terribly comfy either). The 4G52 engine is a dinosaur but it's still a good hunk of metal. I've found it to be more rev happy than it's 2.6 litre counterpart. Good luck with your Ram resurrection!

A little update, camoit helped me out on figuring out the engine issue, timing jumped, causing to sputter, here is 1 lovely thing I found and the cause of the jump
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u146/i_steel_free_things/d50/received_1111380632246705_zpscntqlibw.jpeg (http://s167.photobucket.com/user/i_steel_free_things/media/d50/received_1111380632246705_zpscntqlibw.jpeg.html)
That bolt was missing when I pulled the timing cover, so now I also get to take the oil pan off, which I am not complaining, get that cleaned up nice and pretty while in the area

My paintwork looked like chalk and was pretty thin but a wax and buff up by hand made a big difference. Still annoys me you guys got one piece door glass - looks cleaner than the quarter vent window on mine. Got it running right?

Dude I will trade you door glass, I love the look of the vents, if you interested let me know!
