My truck was acting like it was running out of fuel with a load on engine ie..going up a hill. It got progressively worse. Determined it was the carb bowl vent by running it without air cleaner. It is better, but still lacks power. Looking for an inexpensive solution.
Thanks, Andy

Which carb are you running and what motor?

The truck is a 1988 2 wheel drive w/ the 2.0, and stock carb.

check the vacuum lines in the box on the wheelwell on the pdrivers side - common place for hoses to rot and/or have critterws eat the lines. The box contains sensors that control the computer controlled carb.

Checked the box, all appeared fine. Ended up putting a weber carb on it. Now I am just waiting for the regulator to come in so that I can finish the job.
Penneyman1, thanks again for the advice!

Can I suggest a Carter P4070 fuel pump (check Rickdees post to install with a relay)? Pain to install, but will make the Weber happier (I also suggest a bigger fuel filter or a primary/secondary arrangement). You can use some scrap sheet metal to blank the mechanical hole (use a gasket as a template, reuse the spacer and some epoxy to create the plate, grey RTV and a new gasket to seal it) or just remove the cam arm.
