I have a 95 mighty max, i just bought it a couple weekends ago, and have been fixing it up. I already fixed the exhaust leak, the speedometer, all of the lights, but the temp gauge and the oil light don't work. My grandpa is 99% sure it is the gauge fuse since he has been doing automotive repair for 50+ years. But I have searched all over the internet, and he checked alldata, and we can't find out where the gauge fuse is to check it. Alldata gave two possibilities and neither one of them was the gauge fuse. Does anybody know where it is?

Only thing I can find to show fuses for the instrument cluster is fuse 7

i think that might have been one of the possibilities that alldata gave, but im not sure...

well, can you tell me what else could be causing the check engine oil light and the temp gauge to not work? We fixed the speedometer, that was because the cable was cross threaded, so now the speedometer, trip odometer, and odometer work.

Yeah, a stupid answer but did you replace the bulbs?

I think he's saying the gauges aren't working. He mentions getting all the lights to work.

Check the circuit wiring on the back of the cluster - it may have a broken trace. There also may be a voltage reg on the gauge cluster that went south.

On 86, If looking at the book correct the oil pressure indicator, charge indicator light, brake warning light, egr warning light all are tied to the ignition, including the temp. It's either the gauge or the oil or temp sensor. You can use a ohm meter to check the temp sensor. If the truck is warmed up it should read out something. Same with the oil only it should be closed when off (closed the light is on) when running it opens turning the light off.

Oil dummy light not working at all might be broken wire(very common down where the sensor is) or bad sensor, it is located down by the oil filter on the front side kind of. Same with temp gauge not working, either broken wire or bad sensor, it is located on the intake near the thermostat.
