Weber choke not opening fully

Hey all,

I'm having a rough time with my Weber. I installed it in August, and It's been running okay but not great since. Been fussing with it, and I've noticed that it won't open the choke completely. Can't quite figure out why, thought maybe one of you experts might have some advice. This is as open as it gets:

Hi Wote. Are the choke butterflies closed up tight when the carb is cold? If they are then you have scope for adjustment - loosen the 3 retaining screws holding the electric choke housing down and rotate the centre section so you can physically see the butterflies actuate. I would take a guess that the best time to do it is when the carb is at normal operating temp, then adjust it to the point where the butterflies are just at fully open. If it's overkill and the butterflies are open at cold and it's struggling, you'll have to back off your adjustment a little until they are almost closed (carb cold)

You don't have enough choke pretension on the choke. With the truck cold, loosen the 3 screws and turn the choke cover until it closes all the way. Then get in the truck, push the pedal to the floor once, and start the truck. Once it starts, tap the pedal lightly - it should open slightly as it steps to the fast idle position on the cam. As it warms up, it will step along the cam until it is fully open. Also be sure there is no binding of the choke linkage.

Hey Camoit, can you run a video on adjusting that edelbrock mixture? Soon as the snow melts here I will be turning screws on the TBird's 302 since it's in the car and running now.

Brad get a strip kit for the edelbrock. you can change jets and metering rods to really tune the carb.

I have the AEM mixture gauge installed with a bosch sensor, though only on one side which is fine for now. I'll take a look at them kits though, thanks.

Yea I can do that. I need to order in a squirt nozzle for the fuel pump. Then go lean a touch more. There easy once you have the hang of it. Be sure to subscribe to my channel.

I tried it and the choke was open. I could not make it close all the way unless I held the butterfly by hand. I removed the electric choke cover and the pin is only able to travel; the upper half of that curve in the cover there. It will not go down past the middle. IDK if I made a mistake rebuilding it or not.
In the end I could not change it any but at least I know what it should do.

That's my bet too. Any idea where there might be clear easily seen instructions on how to properly rebuild it? And a line on a good kit too. :)

Pennyman1 see my other thread. I think I worked out the problem. It looks like caused it by knowing just enough to be dangerous to myself. :lmao::(

Pennyman1, Did you find the manual? I have it out and I think I will take it apart today the kit is due tomorrow. I am still unsure of which side if primary and which secondary as well as the correct jets for each spot.
