View Full Version : Alternative outside mirrors? Heated?

One of the reasons I bought this truck was because it was bare-bones. But one problem we seem to have in MO is high humidity followed by overnight cooling, which leads to lots of dew and ice on a cold vehicle.

Does anyone knows of heated mirrors that could be adapted? It looks like there were some factory power mirrors near the end of production, but I can't even find a picture of them. I'm not sure they're heated anyway. So that leaves something from another truck or SUV. The 2nd gen Montero has a similar mirror, but I don't think I could route wires through the factory Might Max base.

I don't mind bolting something to the door's sheet metal, so it doesn't necessarily have to fit in the corner like the factory mirrors do. I've already got the factory towing mirror on the drivers side as it is. Something that can bolt to flat sheet metal would probably be ideal.

If anyone has suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

After spending some time searching Google Images, it looks like everything in the last 20 years bolts to the corner of the door. This is going to be a challenge...

Looks like Endeavor mirrors might be close. They bolt to the door sheet metal, and come in a power, heated version. The curvature on the bracket will probably need some work or an adapter, but it's the best junkyard option I've seen so far. The size and shape should look right at home too. I'll try to grab a set next time one comes through the local yards.

I think the 2nd gen monteros were pretty similar. I'll have to look when I get back.
