can anyone give me a rundown on what to do? theres a peice of the cover broken off,been like that since day one,but im pretty sure something flew in there and is rubbing the belt,theres a bunch of grooves cut into the smooth side,and whats the balance shaft?

Did you get it figured out?? It's not to hard to change the belt just keep her on #1 TDC. There are manuals in the manual and source info section.

yeah i got it figured out,had trouble figuring out how to time it,i think it may have skipped a tooth before i pulled the belt cause its got way more pep now

Cool. There should be marks on the pulleys that line up with the head or each other. It's normally pretty straight forward. Did you leave off the cover or put it back on? You can always take some pictures of it and explain it to the other members that may need to do the same thing.

yeah i found the marks for the oil pump and crank,couldnt find one for the cam,good thing its not an interference motor lol but i put the cover back on,ready to go buy a new one though its cracked so you can pull off the top and the little bit around the water pump,i would take pics but its back together

There should have been one on the back side of the cam pulley. It should line up with the flat of the head where valve cover sits.

yeah thats where i put it,i set the motor to TDC before i pulled the belt,and marked everything right after,but on the first start up it had a lifter tap,so i tried retiming it multiple times...kept having the oil pump wrong
