Your truck makes all of us other turbo trucks look slow. Lol. So how was this past season mike?

2010 season I upped my official record at Bonneville to 154.961 MPH, My qualifying run was 159.891 MPH. My return Run which is averaged with the qualifier was obviously much slower. Last weekend I upped my record with the ECTA in North Carolina to 144.453 MPH in the Mile.

How Much $, well you could say too much. I've been doing LSR for 11 years. I totally destroyed the blue motor, salvaged as much as I could from it and built the red motor, toasted it once but saved everything but the pistons, then went Turbo, then broke the tranny, fixed & upgraded that, broke the clutch, fixed & upgraded that, overheated the system with a stock radiator, (what was I thinking) upgraded that. Not to mention the Roll cage, fire systems, parachute, Firesuit, helmet HANS device and all the other stuff for safety.

Remember this is a dedicated race Truck, not driven on the street (well around the block after a major re-work) I post this stuff up to give you guys ideas and show what has been done. Everybody's truck is special and has it's own uniqueness.

If I had to choose the most exotic Modification, it would be the AEM and Eclipse Dual Coil and Throttlebody, eliminating the distributor. I was told (by those who will remain nameless) it couldn't be done. Yeah, right!

thats very cool. It inspires me just to keep on with it and not to give up. I am doing sbc swap in my truck....hmmmmm maybe i should build for boost> im not a turbo type of guy..but it sounds fun

yeah i know all about the cost how you rebuild alot or break shit. My family has been long time drag racers since the 60's. '
Franklin motorsports- pro stock, funny car, top fuel, road course, all kind of racing, its very expensive, they built a 95 dodge avenger 2.0 that is pushing mid 300hp all motor.

its for sale....

You're an animal!

How about the rear end setup.

Any thought on swapping out the trans with maybe a Toyota r154 or w58? Bill's bell housings now supports the wideblocks.

Care to tell me about the headwork? I've heard but never confirmed G54B valves and springs are the same as the 4g64. If so, I've got upgraded springs and OS valves.

The head work was done by DPR in Long Beach, CA, I can't really tell you much other that it no where near stock. Dan welded and re-shaped the bowls and changed the volume, then he replaced my valves with 1MM oversize ones, his shop guy Jeremy, sourced the springs from something (I don't even have a P/N) all I know is they're strong, they crushed the hydraulic lifters, that's why I have manual lash adjusters.

The intake and exhaust ports were all redone and the intake ports matched to the manifold, thats where the whacked intake manifold came in. He also re-ground the cam for a 282 duration, I forget the lift, I need to look it up or measure it.

The rear end is stock 3.909, I'm still looking for the 3.308 6 speed 3000GT diff.

I'm sticking with my current tranny for now, but If I find a deal on the R156 I just may jump on that.

you have any info/experience with small block chevy motors..ive been reading up on the most conservative way to build a streetable boosted sbc. If you would be of assistance that would be great. Its still a long ways from the motor building stage but it never hurts to make friends....

What about the rx-7 tranny swap with the b2600 bellhousing? Or a t-56 swap? Many years ago John Baker sold a bell housing to fit a t-5 behind the 2.6 wide block - I think I saw on the hodrodcoffeeshop site a similar bell housing being made by someone.

Were they boosted? And is that a good or bad thing....
Either way I will have some questions for you when the time comes...if that's ok..

Never a good thing to blow up a SBC :-) They weren't blown, but same rules apply.

Of course there aren't a whole lot of suppliers for under hood manifolds and such, I'd go for a remote mount solution.

You should post up a link in the links section for the tuff pans. That is a great trans pan from what I've researched.

got a few ?s about the intake,
whats the benefits of the manifold like that?
did you rework it or did someone else ?
if you did how hard was it?
and i gotta add thats an amazing truck,

LSR Mike

It's a specific application, the long runners of th stock manifold give you low end Torque, for the stump pulling a truck is supposed to do.
What I'm doing doesn't require it, Short runners, or more of a Plenum is for High end Horsepower. It is a desired type of intake for a Turbo application.

I Cut the runners out with a Sawsall, The guy who did my head work had the flange welded back to the tank and then matched all the port sizes.

Thank you.
