So I have and 1988 2nd Gen 4x4...

The truck before I got it spent most of it's time submerged in mud...
After washing down the underbody and the years of caked on mud.

The fuel tank leaks... and leaks badly.

The leak happens at about 7 or 8 gallons... which makes me wonder if
it is leaking at the seam....???

So My guess is that we will have to drop this tank and try to see where the leak is coming from
and try to fix if it can be fixed..

Looking at the tank diagram that I found on this site.... I am wondering how hard is it to remove
the tank from the truck?

Can this be done without removing the rear truck bed?

Many thanks!

4 bolts, disconnect the fuel sender wires and hoses, then drop it out of the bottom of the truck. Por15 and Eastwood have gas tank repair kits for such a repair.

Many happy users of the por stuff in the car club over here

Be sure to really clean it out well, otherwise it will ball up on any crap left in the tank and cause filter issues soon after
