Does your air box hole a hole cut in the front of the box? Does your rad support have 2 hole beside the headlight one on top of each other ? Basically beside the air tube on the rad support beside the pass headlight.

The 1991 Spec book doesn't show this hole in the air box OR these 2 holes in the rad support

Just wondering if mine was modified or this was on purpose from the factory

cool to c u actually run that truck at the strip.

isn't the 2.0 head chamber volume(& valves) much smaller than the 2.4 ?
i suppose u figured out the higher compression ratio... valve clearence if any.. etc

'can1991, from My 93 -
yes on the 2 holes,

Below is the 'unmolested' air box

Dash... it's slow but fun.

I even made it to this guys video

Claych: What are the triangle two boxes in front of the Air Box? Mine doesn't have that. It is good to know the holes are factory. I wonder why unless they were for air conditioning lines to go through?

Dash. I will CC the head 2.0 head but won't have anything to compare it to until I pull the 2.4 head. I'm assuming this will be a bolt on since others have done it. I will keep milling to a minimum to avoid too much compression.

'can1991,
The missing 'box' is an intake resonator, some one removed Yours (the 2 rivet holes & shaved lip).
As for the 2 mystery holes, don't know... look at My first pic above, the a/c lines run through
a separate dedicated hole.
Interesting, the same hole Your ?trans cooler? lines run through.

P.s,
I am curious about the cam lift measurements you made,
did you subtract the base circle measurement ? (x axis)
lift= y axis - x axis .
Thx.

Whoever removed the resonator from the intake didn't know what they were doing. That 'empty box' creates an air reserve that's worth 1-2 kW of midrange power and torque and shuts up some of the intake noise. The mystery holes - could be either power steering/trans cooler lines as Claych suggested

It's funny.. I ran the whole taped up thinking that it would just suck HOT air in through it and ruin the colt air coming from the factory tube.

BUT... for fun at the track.. I pulled the tape off the whole and picked up 5 hundredth..LOL LOL but it was getting cooler at night... but I ran a hot lap back to back that way and ran EXACTLY the same time verifying the 5 hundredths pick up.

I was thinking of maybe a tube from the hole to the 2 holes in the rad support... a bit extra volume and it would be colder air..

Just a though.

Right now I'm running with the hole open.

The cam lift I made was gross lift from the base circle to the tip using a digital gauge and it comes out the same as the service manual for the 1991 4G64 FI engine.

The whole in the bottom of my pick has the lines to my factory tranny cooler

I'm glad mine doesn't have AC.. it would turn on and my engine would stop running as it won't have enough power to turn it...LOL

Ouch :lmao:Think of it as an auxiliary engine brake...

Thank you for your rudeness..... there is better ways of getting your point across.

Obviously I used the wrong term. It would have been better to point that out than to belittle someone.

The measurement I provided was from the base circle to the tip of the lobe.

You take from that what you will. I will no longer respond to your messages as this is a fun hobby and a simple mistake.

I was having a good time discussing my project up to this point.
