I'm new to the forum. My '87 Power Ram broke down. Turns out it is most likely the tranny and T-case. I can pull what i need out of an '86. I know that changes were made to the RAM 50 in '87 but i'm not sure if that included the tranny and T case. What i need to know is will the tranny and T case from an '86 power RAM 2.6L 4WD still work in the '87 2.6L 4WD Power Ram? From everything i have gathered both should have a KM145 tranny and would be interchangeable. Is this accurate?

They should be exactly the same

I second that - may need to swap shifters for them to line up properly to the 87 on the 86 transfer and tranny

there should be a silver plate at the back of the engine bay right here (see picture)

that will tell you what the transmission is. plus, if you ever need to get the truck painted, the color code is also on that plate. as well as other sometimes useful numbers. welcome to the site.
