Hi All,
I searched the forums and found 1 thread that stated that the 2.6 motor swap requires that if you have a MT you need to find a MT engine and that the Engine from a 2.6L Auto will not work due to the different transmission bolt alignment. This is the case correct?
So... of course my engine is Killed and there is a nice one 83 vintage from a montero 4x4 at the local yard but its from an Auto. So I am out of luck...
My next question is; the former owner of the truck said she took an Engine from a 86 4x4 MT and put that into the truck... so I want to confirm that regardless of the year... a MT 2.6L bolts up a 2nd Gen MT 4x4.
I found an MT from far away out of a 87 4x4 and since I had an 86 engine in a 87.. that this one should bolt up.
She did not say anything about having to sway in the older trucks transmission and stuff.
Thanks All
