Which OBD1 Scan tool?

I have a 1991 Dodge Ram D50 with a 2.4 engine with the hopes of turning it into a daily driver. I want to buy a scan tool but am unsure if a OBD1 has different variants. From what I researched Ford and GM had different setups. Logic would dictate that whatever fits a Dodge would fit my rig...but it's really a rebadged Mitsubishi. Is anyone familiar with OBD1 scanners and which one would be correct?

a scanner is not necessary, or really much use. They exist, but you would typically bridge two contacts on the plug and count the flashes
