Replaced the oxygen sensor today (trucks runs much better ~ weird various types of engine miss gone now @ 135,900 miles)
Used a Dremel tool to enlarge the exhaust heat shield hole to reach the sensor with an O2 socket...
NOTE: Notice the exhaust manifold catalytic convertor is pretty well plugged up..! Engine has OK power though (all 65ish HP)..!
NOTE: I used my COVID face mask when using the Dremel on the heat shield ~ might be asbestos lined..?

A good move after all those miles and the coolant leak you just fixed. A good oxygen sensor signal is essential to the feedback carb's operation.

Thanks guys for the good feedback
The latest ~ drove the truck to town today on the H3 fwy the engine coolant temp gauge climbed to 3/4 scale coming & going up the Koolau Mountains in both directions ~ used 3rd gear this time to climb the mountain not 4th gear ~ the tailpipe is black again ~ the engine still has miss episodes ~ the gas mileage is getting really rather poor ~ the photo of the cat (above post) shows it to be rather "mostly" plugged ~ put the truck on a lift today ~ all exhaust (except new muffler) looks original Mitsubishi with raised diamonds in the sheet metal ~ command decision is to replace 2nd cat and remove 1st cat from inside the exhaust manifold... Wife not Happy ME TOO $$$
So, will this plan work or are parts not available..? If I can find a stock fitting 2nd cat then we will just destroy the exhaust manifold cat to remove "IT"...
Does this sound feasible..? Who has gone down this road before; please advise... Will begin reading cat threads here & searching for parts...
It never ends huh..!

The miss episodes could be due to electrical or ignition issues. Does Five O Motors have engine and exhaust analyzers you can use? It’d be worth spending a few $$ trying to clearly identify the source or causes of the drivability issues before spending a lot more by throwing parts at it.

TRUE, but I am headed in this direction with a new thread in Gen1 MM & Ram50: http://www.mightyram50.net/vbulletin/showthread.php/9139-Catalytic-converter

Would spraying carb/throttle cleaner into the O2 port and letting it soak for a while, then driving it burn some of the carbon out? There are all kinds of DIY cat cleaning vids/advice online and some seem really sketchy like soaking it in sodium hydroxide or bleach. If the metallised coating on the ceramic matrix has decayed and is blocking the gas flow, it might be past the point of no return...

Hello geezer man ;^)
I think it's way past cleaning; if a suitable converter is available we will go that route... I saw one YouTube video about cleaning cats but at the video end the guy said it don't work & just replace the cat !
