ROL head gasket
I've got a ROL gasket set that has a special coating on the head gasket. it says"The surface of this headgasket has a special coating for better sealability DO NOT use any chemicals or sealer. It must me installed dry." Its always been my belief that an engine can't be built without coppercoat period. The difference between a long lasting engine and a short lifed engine is the correct use or coppercoat and torquing. I have no faith in the headgasket. Will it hurt to treat the surfaces of the block and head with a light coat of coppercoat? I also have a Fel Pro 8770PT Engine Cylinder Head Gasket on the way. The head is new and I've cleaned the surface of the block with a drill and brush. I'm waiting on some replies to start rebuilding.
Thanks

That gasket need a clean surface. It has the copper coat built in. You will feel it when you touch it.

DO NOT USE ROL GASKETS they are CRAP. I've had tons of of them fail and it ends up costing me to replace them in a few months. Use Fel-pro they are a far better gasket. If you can find one use a multi layered steel head gasket if at all possible
