How much does a rebuilt carburetor go for?

So the carb shop near my house wants to charge me $450 to rebuild my carburetor and to fine adjust it on their dyno/smog equipment. I honestly think that's a fair price but at the same time I could rebuild the carb for less than $50 just not sure if the rebuild kit comes with the MC solenoid. reason why I failed smog and get 15 mpg combined btw.

Thats not too bad if they can guarantee a pass of smog, but you could at least try it yourself first to save $$$. I highly doubt the mc solenoid will come in the kit. Probably depends on how much the kit is. You never know what else could be wrong with a 25 year old truck. When youy get the carb straightened out you could still have bad catalytic converters.

Seems like everyone on here gets rid of the stock carb and runs a weber unit instead.

I would try to find one that originally came on the same size motor as yours, since the OEM 2.6l carb came with bigger jets.

this might help...there's a place in Burbank, CA called BFIC (burbank fuel injector & carburetor). their #: 877-333-3130. I talked to them a few days ago and it would cost about $300 to rebuild my original carb. Same price if you do a straight exchange of your original for a reman. one (carb. legal of course) btw, for reference, i have a '88 ram50 2.0L

Who did the rebuild? How much was it? It looks like it's running good now.

If I had access to a smog machine or a 5 gas analyzer I would of done it myself. But it did pass smog and the dude did a really good job adjusting it so I figured I got my moneys worth.

Compared to what I have seen on cali carb prices and the fact you couldn't drive the truck without it or creative licensing, its relatively fair. Beats 1200+ I have seen in the past. I'm all for bending the rules when I can on this stuff, especially for a vehicle that is not a dd.

well like i said before as long as ur happy w/ it thats what really matters in the end. and it sounds like ur satisfied w/ the end results. but in all honesty, i swear we got wayyy too many pointless laws out here.. lol y cant we have a bit more leniency like other states do?

I would have loved to spend that money on double carbs or changing it out to EFI. But yeah emission laws out here dont make much sense half the time
