Ram 50 will turn over but will not start

Ok I'm getting a ram 50 4x4 from a friend of mine and the story was they took it to the auto auction and somebody messed with something and tried to low ball them. They had driven the truck to the auction. So what can be done that quick that can be undone and it run? I'm buyin the truck either way because I'm gettin it cheap and worse case I can swap the motor

check to see if the distributor rotor is missing or if the coil is disconnected.

Just by chance what is the firing order on these?

you may want to make sure its timed correctly also.

Ok how do I do that?

make sure that the #1 piston is tdc on the compression stroke, then you take the distributor cap off and it should be pointed at the #1 coil.

Ok that's simple enough I'm ready to get to work on this thing just got o get it to my house now

check the plugs and distro cap, timing helps as well but it should not be a issue if the drove it to auction. the distributor cap is on the rh side of the engine just before the carb..... check that it is tight and then pull it off and check the rotor cap make sure its there. after that check all the wires and firing sequence. If it is just backfiring chances are the wires were swaped.

I'm having this same problem and my timing is correct but I'm not getting any crank...I changed the oil pump and water pump and all was good before then as far as the motor starting.. Any suggestions I've been on this thing for 3 days

i have an 1987 2.0 drove came back cut it off and now will turn over but will not start

has new fuel pump new ignition coil spark plugs wires distributor cap rotor button and is in time and also has fire and good compression

If you have spark, check fuel next. If you can get it to cough after manually priming the carb then you'll need to investigate the fuel system. If the fuel pump has been replaced check the orientation of the fuel lines. If the primary fuel line and the accelerator pump lines have been swapped it will either die off idle or not run at all. A faulty fuel cut solenoid on the carb will kill it as well. If you're not getting any fuel check that the pump is picking up. Does the new pump require a spacer? Is the actuator rod working? How are the fuel filter and lines looking? It'll be something small you've overlooked. Good luck with solving your issue, I doubt it's anything major.
