weber help

I just installed a weber on my 84 4x4 and it will run BEAUTIFUL for about 5-10 minutes and then it. Will die and will start back up fine but will die as soon as I hit the gas. Can anyone help me out?

Are you running an electric fuel pump or the mechanical one? If its the mechanical one, it may be failing from the back pressure or its flooding the carb out from overpressure. If its electric, be sure you are hooked up to the correct fuel line from the tank and not the return line.

Its the mechanical only I believe I just bought an electric one. When I install it what do I do with the old one?

You can leave it in and disconnect the hoses, or remove it and make a cover plate for the opening using the spacer or gasket as a template.

Just keep in mind you need to install the pump near the tank. Normally with in 1.5 foot.

You can make a blanking plate for the mechanical very easily, just use some scrap sheet metal, a pair of tin snips, and the OEM pump spacer. You'll also need 3 gaskets.

Use the spacer to trace the pump seat twice on the sheet metal. Cut out the templates with tin snips. Sandwich the spacer between the sheet metal cutouts with 2 gaskets, then use one more gasket to mate to the head. You MIGHT need spacers on your bolts. Washers or w/e will work.

I put the AC EP42S near the tank on my 87 4X4. There is a great location near the fuel filter. Ran the wiring inside air brake hose to protect it. Over 20 years,only had to replace the pump once (it failed).
