Brush Guards and Light Bars

Does anyone know if there are brush guards or bull bars and light bars available for the 2nd gen Ram 50's ?

this topic came up here on da board b4 and i dont recall if anybody makes them for our trucks.. u might be better off manufacturing one from scratch. a lot cheaper too

I don't think fabricating one would be a problem but the powder coating would drive the cost up significantly. I am also wondering if anyone has modified products made for other small trucks to fit our trucks.

You can forego powdercoating and use any of the commercially available epoxy-based paints. They aren't AS tough, but the difference is negligible. Most steel yards carry "scrap" steel leftover from job sites they sell for cheaper than finished dimension material. Play your cards right, you might be able to fab something better than what you can buy for much much less money.

I think I saw someone on here use a Jeep bumper/brush guard with modifications. Just go to your local shiny parts 4x4 place with a tape measure and a cheat-sheet of measurements off your truck. Never know what can be easily adapted or might even bolt right up.

If you like the prerunner look, ORI ( Off Road Innovations) still makes one for the 2nd generation. Place on Ebay has it for about $170. I had one on the other power ram 50 I used to own, pretty nice. If I recall, utilizes some of the original bumper bolt holes (but can't swear to it) truck has been gone over 5 years. I ordered it bare and had it powdercoated locally in the color I wanted, has 2 mounting tabs for lights.

Thanks for the info Yamahlr. I tried looking for Off Road Innovations but there are quite a few of them to sort through. Could you possibly post a link please. Being on dial up really is tedious, so a shortcut would be great.

Where? People were quoting me $75/wheel for plain jane matte black in the Bay Area.

OP, try looking at N-Dure tube bumpers on eBay, made for Jeeps Cherokees and Toyotas but they run about 63" wide, same as our trucks.

$75!!!!! oh man. they say you coming. You need to find a place that does things on an industrial scale. All the small shops will be more expensive. Try calling some of the diesel truck painting shops and asking them who they use for blasting and powder. Also look for the truck tire repair shops. Many of them places now have the equipment to blast and coat rims in the shop. The place that I have now, I can have them them blasted for about 35 and powdered for the same. They will give me free powder on small parts if I stick them in with what ever color they are doing at the time. Thats how I got my shifter and other parts done in gloss safety yellow. Thats the expensive stuff. But these guys were having some big posts covered, so I asked them. No problem, I tape them and hang them. In they go. The day they were powdering my truck I bought the shop pizza and soda. That made there day... And now i can go in there and get things done on the cheep.

that was a prerunner bar for looks only - its an 80's look thing, popular in california at the time.
