it is insanely priced, and the mileage has to be turned over at least once, but it is a rare one in the states. I like how he acts like a fair price is a low ball offer - he will have it a long time at that price

Agreed, but a nice truck to grow old with(if at that price what they're shooting for), especially with the velvet ropes around it.

I would think that parts for a right hand drive truck which are specific to right hand drive trucks would be a bitch to find in USA. I also bet that if you had one, no one would even know how precious it was since the truck isn't a sought after vehicle. They would just think it was a mail man truck because of the right hand thing.

most of the parts can be had from australia or the phillipines - common there. It is also true about the rarity being lost on the masses. There was a right hand drive 2nd gen on ebay last year - rare here, common other places.

Love the mail carrier thing!! Never thought of it that way. Or as my better half simply said," are you crazy, you would look ridiclous".

how many mini trucks in MT are converted to rhd? Not a strange thing at all, but I for one won't pay that price for the rarity.

Ha - I'm the one who ended up buying this. Maybe had one drink too many one night and bought off ebay. Fun truck to be honest, but looking for my next thing. I thought I'd have time to bring this one up to very nice condition, but work gets in the way. Runs great - you can drive her daily, but I need cleaner bodywork and other items (squeaky suspension (ball joint?)) before I drive it all the time. I think I will keep her to the side for now and hope to find some time this winter (unless someone wants to take her off my hands).

Hi RiverRock, welcome to mightyram. Pics! Pics I say!!?! An 83 Triton? It would have been an L200 or L200 Express here in Australia. The Triton name change didn't come in until 1987. Has it got twin round headlights? Don't keep us in suspense

Now you've done it - got bitten hard with a rare truck for the USA. If you have never owned one of these trucks before, they grow on you quickly. I have owned Geronimo for 34 years August 2nd, and have been his only "owner", although I wonder who owns who. Welcome to the forum - if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the welcome. "Triton" was the closest option. "Forte" wasn't listed. Will get some pics on here in the next day or two. Four rectangle headlights. Yeah, my wife would like to see it gone, but it's kind of like a pound puppy right now - I don't want to let it get away. I have it hidden in the corner of the garage right now - hoping she won't notice it.

(Work on it quietly so the day she finally sees it on the road and running she will be a little more receptive ) You'll be able to "sell" it to her when she wants you to get some piece of furniture or pick up some rediculously big plant from the local garden nursery.

You do what ya gotta do... I bought my non running, some (err, well more than some) assembly required, unregistered and a little rusty L200 via text message while on a weekend trip away with the family and negotiated having it towed before 'significant other' got wind of the whole deal. It'll be a while before I can sink enough resources into getting it back into service but it will be put to good use but "It's got a big tray, air con and a tow bar!" went towards my hard sell strategy to the wife

here is a ultra rare forte, round headlights in front
    ultra rare forte.jpg

Your wife will notice something different, not in the garage either. It will be in your routine when you spend more time in the garage then you do listening to her stories she wants to talk. Just don't put the truck in front of her and she will let you keep it, maybe.

Biggest thing she doesn't like is that the suspension squeaks - a lot. I assume at least new ball joints - hopefully no much more. And maybe a little more muffler. I've has two people ask me if it was a diesel. I can't promise a build thread, but will provide updates when I find some time to start twisting wrenches on her. The truck, that is.

...you'll have more luck fixing the truck (they are easier to rewire too). Funnily enough people have asked me if my wife is a diesel too

Not sure of forum protocol, but I have this up for sale now. A year into it, I've done nothing but drive it. No time + no space = selling it. I've posted on Tacoma World.

Again, if this is bad etiquette, let me know.

Something so rare as this I have no problem leaving up. As long as none of the other moderators don't mind.

That would knock some socks off at Mitsubishi Owners Day and JCCS.
