Sweet set-up there! Me like.
very clean look! i like too! i see you took into consideration the "offset" of the wheel when you purchased the quick release. i purchased a similar set-up by Grant back in 84 & just chose by style so i need to "reach" for my directional lever on the 1979. always get a strange look when walking around with my steering wheel in the bag that came with it
I looked the world over for an older Lecarra kit but one was never made for this truck, so I sold the Lecarra wheel I had and bought the whole set up from NRG. It's quality stuff, fit great and above all works.
I like it! Do u have power steering? I'd like to get a new steering wheel but can't decide on size, I don't have power steering so don't want to get a smaller one
yes I do have power steering, well that is I added it. This steering wheel is 14" so not much smaller. I really got p/s because I went to wider tires (235/45-17) so without p/s it got to be to much driving it daily.
I have the same size tires on mine so I know what your saying. I keep them pumped to max so I can do slow turns. So 14 is close to orig size? I think I'm not gonna bother with power steering so I want to keep orig size
I think the original size is 15". I've had 2 MM trucks without p/s and that was the only thing I hated about these trucks. So I hunted and found all the parts needed for the swap and it was an easy install...I'll never look back.
look good, i saw you driving around last week
Looks cool - very classy. And the inside of your cab is soooo clean
That is nice....looks Mustang, but much better in the truck.
That looks very nice! Are you using the nrg short hub?
That hub should be NRG SRK-100H (used the same one on mine). It will fit the splines and still allow use of the turn signal cancel feature (shuts the signal off when you turn the wheel).
Does grant make a hub that works well with the MM and the turn cancellation function? Or do you recommend said company?
Grant uses a 5 bolt pattern on their wheels, so you have to buy an adapter for a better hub. NRG (and others) fit standard 6 bolt wheels (there are 2 bolt patterns for 6 bolt wheels). If you want a better selection of wheels, use the NRG hub. It also firs nicely in the truck, functions exactly the same as factory, and you can find them anywhere.
Grant wheels are nice, but you are limited to Grant wheels. Some adapters may exist to adapt 6 bolt everything to a 5 bolt Grant.
the Grant adaptor cancel pins are just split pins like are used for pinning pulleys on motor shafts. If you use the Grant adaptor, be sure the button on the wiper is rounded and has no sharp edges, or it will wear the copper off th disc and you will have no horn. Use dielecrtic silicone grease on the disc will prevent wear too.
