i never really went to in depth with it once i found the steelies i got...any gm wheel or titan factory wheel should fit. thats on an 17 or 18...i think if you look back a page or 2 my offset and other numbers on my rims are there somewhere. i measured it out to be about a 1/2 inch between outside of wheel/tire and the bed...but with my body drop it gets closer but once i lose the inner fender of the bed and cut it out ill be good on clearance.

I know it's a little late for this build but has anybody thought about using the frame as the air tank? If done correctly it would hold the same amount or more air then a tank.

You better be a good code welder to make the frame an air tank - the pressure needed to run airbags will blow the truck apart if it fails. Most air tanks sold are not certified either - it's a big gamble but worse if the air tank frame bends in a collision, it will have the air pressure to cause it to fail. I would not trust any 20+ year old frame to make a tank out of - too much stress over the years fatigues the metal.

OH no I would not suggest using an old frame. If you built a new frame out of box tubing. Cut it, tack it, then tig it up.

    Hey guys and girls...

I know its been a while. I have been slacking on keeping my project thread up to date. So here is an update. I havent done too much. But i am back at it full steam ahead and will have it rolling within a month if things go as planned.

I acquired the truck i was supposed to get with the hydraulics which ended being my 2.4 to stick back in it when the time comes. SBC plans are no longer my plans since i plan to daily this thing. Well i am taking that truck and putting it on the road until my project is ready for the motor.

So now i have 2 driveable parts trucks and future projects and a parts truck with no front clip.

I made it to a junk yard and scored some stock upper and lower control arms. Picked up a bunch of supplies, tools, and materials also.

I have the bed on and am halfway done with the welding. Within the week ill have it ready to pull off and finish. Once i have the bed ready to pull off and able to finish i will be hitting the front and bagging it. Along with welding the front frame horns and mounting bumper.

Here are a few pics of whats been going on...like i said not too much work ...but summer is a really hectic time for me since i work at a marina.
    thanks for looking

At least your shop is still clean. Mine is F-upped so bad now I can't hardly see the truck. I had the kitchen flood and that was the start of the clutter. Now I'm running for my local park board so I have campaign signs all over the place. I'll try to clean it out tomorrow morning, I hope.

It takes forever to build a truck by yourself don't it.....
    Looks good so far.

Holy crap man are you going to be subbing the frame with that drop ??? That's some nice work, keep it up and you might beat my 12 year build.

ok everyone im back at it. i jumped from the bed to the front/engine x member. i did manage to get 2 fillers for the bed sides cut out. But i want to get this thing rolling so i can try to hit a show with it this year. Prolly go to Freak show agian this year.

i hope to have the x member built and in place then work on building lower control arm mounts. I think im gonna do them a little different than stock. Gonna install them just like a regular 4 link bushing would be installed since i am making the x member and all a little different than stock as well.

Ill have to mock it up and see how i like it and how well it bolts in and functions.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INPUT ON IF THIS WILL WORK. PLEASE CHIME IN AND THROW IDEAS, CONCERNS, QUESTIONS, ETC.

    ILL HAVE SOME PICS SOON.

    Thanks for looking stay tuned

If that doesnt seem to be right with me then i will be welding on some poly 4 link rod ends and use a tab style mount set up.

I dont see where i can use the rod ends...but i am open to ideas..i just dont quite grasp what you are saying..and i make everything myself when it comes to brackets, tabs, mounts, etc.

well i got a little further on my cross member
    2x3 1/8'' tubing 1/4'' plate
have to cap the sides and add some plates to the joints and then i can tack it in place.

Give us a picture of the control arm please. If it's what I think it is then just make a hole new one from DOM tubing. If you did not want to go with rod ends then you can use uniballs.
