Tipped it over but no real damage done, need to finish up the bed though. Anyone have a front bed skirt laying around? I need one (left or right) to extend my original ones to be reinstalled.
Yeah this truck is probably the oldest Mitsubishi branded Mitsubishi I've ever owned. It has to be one of the first to be sold here in the states as a Mitsubishi. I think it's official model year is '83 but the truck itself is an '82 build date. Tires are really heavy, i think around 100lbs per corner. The truck is way light, i need to switch to some squishier shocks because it rides pretty firm and the springs are Alcans made for rock crawling so they are really soft.
Cool, Alcan Spring has been around since ? '84 ?
A Bud of mine is The Prez of a local 4x4 club here (60 or so miles from the Rubicon)
& has always raved about their fab skills.
Just curious, what powers the beast, & what trans/t case/ diff (s) combo ?
Thx!!
Right now it's 50/50 Mits/Yota, It has a 3VZE 3.0 V6 with W56 (Ax-15 variant) 5 speed and Marlin 4.7:1 Gear driven T-case, Axles are Front; 4.56:1 Toyota 8" with full Detroit and longfield axles and high steer and the Rear; 4.63:1 Mitsubishi 9.5" with stock air locker and disc brakes. The future engine plan is the Montero Sport 3.5 SOHC and 2WD automatic trans with divorced adapter (hopefully) or prerunner adapter to run the Toyota T-case. The Alcans are pretty good as far as leafs go, I want to try some squishier shocks though.
Yeah it can/has been done, i would need a donor Toy trans. I could still do that. I also have thought about using the 3.8L V6 and JATCO 5 speed automatic from a Gen 3 but i would need to know if i could for sure run that trans with just a tail housing if i found a driveshaft that plugged into where the T-case splines in.
IncorpoRatedX shot a little video of us out in a wash today in the rain. Still need to finish the bed and build a front bumper as you can see the bungee cords holding my front bumper on are getting a workout.
Oh and that was in reply to someone saying about it not bolting to other things lol, it can be done. Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in. Got pics of the t4 and t-case together and what i did to the t-case to get it to work.
My bumper is held on my bungee cords! I didn't want to make custom mounts because i'm building a custom bumper with integrated winch mount. One thing at a time, still need to finish my bed.
