Where is the location of the wire that needs to be grounded to set timing. I saw in a manual but it showed for a Montero, and mine is not located there which looks like it was by the wiper motor. I don't want to mess up my ecu.

I though it was located on the distributor. You could check our manuals section and also you may download a manual for yourself. They are available for members. Enjoy
I found 3-deadend wires on passengerside wall. 2-are capped. one is capped with brown cover the other with a black one. this is for 91 3.0 4x4 anyone know for sure.???
Capped one with brown cap is to put the ECU into base timing mode, just ground the pin.
