    G54B Oversized Cam Journal

Bought a 87 Power Ram 50 4x4 with a cracked head. Head was a NJV and had Hydraulic Lifters, and Rockers. The Cam was very clean, and had 34.5mm journals.

Anyone got any idea where this Cam came from? Obviously with the Oversized journals, I can't just drop it into another head with the standard 34mm bore.

Is this thing some kind of aftermarket Cam?

I'll try to get some pics of it. Have a spare Conquest head that needs resurfacing, so I can have the Cam caps line bored to fit the truck cam.

Got plenty of StarQuest cams lying around. According to the manuals, there isn't a lot of differences between the two cams.
    Similar lobe heights and specs.

use one of the starquest cams - that oversized cam was to correct for worn out journals without using bearings. Rare cm indeed, but no need to hog out another good head to use a cam for a worn out head.

Thanks Pennyman. I'll just use the StarQuest cam then. It's at the machine shop getting worked on and should be ready soon.
