89 mm automatic trans help

hey guys! I just bought an 89 MM(2.0 4 speed automatic) with 90K miles. The max is super straight with minimal body work needed, it has a weber 32/36 that was put on by the previous owner(stock fuel pump, no FPR(fixing that soon)). the interior is impeccable and original, even the dome lights still work.

So here's the BAD!! Its an Automatic, and it gets worse, reverse doesn't engage and its hard to get out of 1st. The ATF is burnt I'm sure lots of clutch material has been swimming thru the fluid. The fluid level is Ok so I'm not loosing Fluid through bad seals.

I live in central Arkansas , and there's not very many of these driving around. I've called a few shops around town and i don't think they want to touch it being the parts are hard to find.

So what's my question?
1 What are my options for finding parts or replacement
2 what other transmissions are compatible with the wideblock
3 are there any for sale?
4 should i do a ATF change

Wildbill <~ cool name ~ IF that transmission has electric selenoids (?) when bad they can cause all sorts of severe problems ~ they might be accessible after removing the pan ~ I am not the person who knows but someone here will know ~ hope it's something you can DIY

Thanks, I haven’t yet dropped the Pan, I’m hesitant without parts. But that would be a good starting point to check.
