New from Ohio '93 2.4L 5 Spd Mighty Max

Hello all, I recently picked up a 1993 2.4L 5 Speed Mighty Max. This will be my second Mighty Max, the first being a 1994, and my very first vehicle ever, so when I started looking for a truck again I saw this one and had to pick it up. The truck looks like It has been through a few different owners and phases, for example the lights are all wired switches, the steering column is gone and in place has a quick release wheel set up. It also has some bucket seats as well which are really nice to have. Has its fair share of issues and I will slowly be going through them. First up is a transmission swap, I noticed it was pretty noisy and when I drained the fluid it was full on silver ! Got pretty lucky and found a used one at an import junk yard with around 70,000 miles supposedly. After that I'll start tackling the massive oil leaks, it seems like its leaking everywhere. Anyhow, glad to join the forum and look forward to posting some progress!

Be sure to drain the tranny and use only GL-4 tranny oil to prevent damage to the syncros - GL-5 eats the brass synchros - never use in these trannys.

    Hello tylerward816,

    Reference Video: @2:15 https://youtu.be/MtPAr14OIQY?feature=shared

I suggest you closely inspect the input shaft bearing on the replacement transmission before installation, my truck sounds off when in neutral with clutch out but silent with clutch engaged... I don't have the part # handy but Mitsubishi still has those bearings you can order from places like http://www.mitsubishipartscentral.com
