Blowing a lot of Black particles on start up

When i start it it seems to shoot a lot of black particles out of the exhaust. Why would this be? Too rich?

Could be a rich fuel mixture or burning some oil due to leaking valve seals.

HOPE not: slight water in the exhaust washing out loose crud..? Monitor the cooling system & potential beginnings of head gasket leak or cylinder head cracks...
