Can intake air temp sensor cause truck not to start?

I have a 1990 mighty max 2wd that won't start changed fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator. If I spray starting fluid it'll fire right up. I get a air temp sensor code from obd 1.

    Code:long, short, short, short

I took 1 of the injector connectors off and got pulses with a multimeter

1990 is an oddball model year for these trucks in the US market, the first year for fuel injection here before they changed to a completely different FI system for '91-on.

Not sure if other/earlier Mitsubishi models also used the '90 FI system. Maybe the Starion/Conquest that had FI but ended production in '89? If so, the StarQuestClub.com forum might have some tips.

I don't have any particular knowledge about the '90-only FI system, but others here might. Meanwhile, try searching the forum for "1990" and scan thru the results to see if you can gather any relevant or otherwise useful tips.
