Cooling issues? Help from someone who lives in an extremely hot climate please!

I recently moved from by the beach to north texas where it is hotter than satan's ballsack and I can't tell if my temps are normal or if I'm having issues. I have a weber swapped 2.0 and I'm not running a thermostat. Where I'm from its normally around 70 and I would barely get past that first cold line. Now I'm sitting in dfw traffic in around 106/110 and my temp guage has been reaching around halfway and higher. I know the water pump was done around 10k miles ago and I replaced the radiator about 3k miles ago. Fan has been fine, radiator is flowing (I looked with the cap off and when I rev I can see it movin through)
When I'm on the highway my temps are fine it's just that traffic and waiting for billion mile long trains that's killing me.

This might be a silly question but what kind of temps are you hot climate guys reaching during the summertime? I haven't seen a summer yet since I got this truck let alone with texas heat.

Here in Tucson my 2.6L reaches about halfway, maybe a bit higher on our 105+ degree days here. I'd say as long as the needle doesn't reach the red zone and the warning light doesn't come on, you should be fine.
