Newbie from TN - 85 Dodge Ram 50

Postby Elwoodg » Fri Oct 01, 2010 6:05 pm

Hello everyone. I bought a 1985 Dodge Ram 50 from my wife's cousin for $500. It has a 2.0 engine with a stick shift. Traded (gave) the truck to my brother for some work he did for me. He drove it until the water pump locked up. We fixed that and got the timing belt out of whack, I'm still working on fixing that. Oh, and the clutch is almost gone as well. Bought it back from him for $200 and called it even.

With that said, I am very interested in doing a v8 swap in this truck. I found a couple of sites with some info on doing the Dodge 318/904 automatic swap. I have a Ford 302 engine but haven't found much info on doing that swap. My concern is mainly with finding out if any firewall or steering modifications are needed. Any advice offered is greatly appreciated.
