Hello, my name is Chris. It's good to be a part of the MightyramD-50 bunch. As with many who have discovered this site, I have encountered a problem with my 1980 d-50. After rebuilding a 2.6 L. to replace the original 2.0 I find that there's quite a vibration occurring through the engine. I used the front pulley (balancer?) and flywheel from another 2.0 that I had (so I don't know how they performed on their original engine but they are probably just fine). I had the impression the flywheels were compatible since if I ordered one aftermarket it was the same part number. Since the flywheel can be installed in any position to the crank it seems it would be an internally balanced engine independent of the need for external balancing. I've eliminated the balance shafts so that shouldn't be a balance problem. I believe the cam timing is correct; I did use the rocker shafts and camshaft from a 2.0 on the 2.6 head and I had to screw the clearance adjusters down to near bottoming but I can't really see a problem there unless the rocker ratio was different and it opened the valves at the wrong rate. I was hoping for some tech advise before I pull the trans and I am going to change the front pulley in favor of the original from the 2.6 before approaching any other potential area of the cause. I'll add that the vibration increases with rpm and can be felt throughout the truck as if the exhaust was resting on the frame, which of course it isn't. Mounts are all good and tight and even if they weren't these sorts of symptoms shouldn't exist. Should I try spinning the flywheel 180 degrees? Any ideas? Thanks. Chris
