Is it really a truck?

I'm curious how many of you actually use your trucks as hauling vehicles. I can't say enough about my 87 long box, and how tough the little sucker is. I replaced some sidewalk for a client last week and hauled 3 cubic yards to the landfill with it. I was concerned about overloading it, and on the last trip I asked the moneytaker what my gross weight was-6200 lbs!!! Empty it was 3300, which means I had damn near 3000 lbs of broken concrete on my truck, and it never whimpered on the ten mile trip to the landfill. I still had suspension travel, and it took the hills capably. Needless to say, I was impressed. I used to have a Toyota one ton pickup when they first came out in the 80's, and it was great. It had EFI and 4.56 gears. This current D50 has 3.909 gears with 31" tires on it, instead of the 28" stock tires and it's definitely not rated at 2000 lbs plus it's a 4x4. Great little truck!! Not to trash Toyotas, but the sheetmetal on the body of every Toyota I've owned was pretty thin, but the D50's seem to have a heavier gauge on them. Anyone know what the actual specs are on that? Not bad for a 22 year old truck.

the only thing that goes in the back of my ute is luggage and my slicks when i go to the strip, its a bit of a waste but it works for me hahaha.

when my 4x4 was stock i hauled firewood out of the woods with it. id have wood stacked 2 foot over the top of the cab and from one end of the bed to the other with sideboards...never missed a beat it was a pullin little fool...i actually hauled my friends 93 3/4 ton 2wd ford with a 460 on a 20 foot car hauler about 35 miles to a shop and it done good runnin about 55 and 60...it had 3.909 ratio

Last time I hauled stuff in my truck was stuff to the dump. Scrap yards and auto recycle place too. My civic and talon are too low and would bottom out on the dirt road to the scrap yards.

Its my work/play/cruise truck. Haul stuff all day everyday cept sundays. From Cinder to cinder bricks, cement bags, engines, transmissions you name it. Heck I even tow with this truck. All that and more on 3" drop blocks, Cut coils, cut bumpstops. Wouldn't be able to do half the stuff in my 89 Yota or 97 Hardbody that my MMM can do. Yep shes really earnin her keep. I need another truck so I can get started on getting my MMM bagged and bodied.

Before I wrecked it I'd haul scrap metal in my 90 MM. I'd move 1600-1800lbs per load and it never felt it. I read somewhere that the 95 MM's had a bed capacity of 1600lbs. My friend's 91 MM pulled a 16' trailer with my new 87 MM on it and didn't seem to mind too much

I use mine all time, and it's lowered, 2wd, with a 4g63.

My 1980 d-50 used to have a tommy liftgate and 3 extra leafs to haul pinball machines, video games etc without a wimper. The leaf kit was from john baker and was the same width and strength as the stock leafs. Could haul 3000+ with ease. Liftgate weighs about 500 lbs alone.

i load mine up every other weekend completely full of parts, gear, tools, tents, wheels, tires... so i'd like to pretend i use it as a truck
