free starion

Postby harrychronikjr » Sun Dec 27, 2009 5:01 pm

so a starion fan friend of mine, has given me a 89 with a bunch of crash damage. The interior is perfect, he is the 2nd owner. It has 89k on the clock and want to pull the 2.6 and trans for a swap. I fantasized about figuring a way to swap the rear end out too, but I don't think I have the skills for that to come out the way I would like.

So any links to useful info on the swap would be help full, also, has anyone seen a starion dash and console in a 2nd gen MM?

its a little more complex than just putting mounts and bolting it in you gotta make sure ur alignment is right and all tht or itll be dog tracking like a mofo. other than tht type of stuff its not all that complicared.....

I looked at that swap myself - to get it to fit the wheel wells requires you to narrow the whole assembly - way out of my skill range. the swing arm alignment requires a new arm to work properly. Or, using a set of dually style fenders to cover the wheels.

actually it would be that easy to just swap in a new rear end. all you gotta do is take a tape measure and measure the left front hub to the left rear hub then do the same for the right and make sure the numbers are the same. thats what i did with my cousin on his swap. hell you can do a whole friking alignment on any car with a tape measure. you just gotta know what to do.
